The city of Hidalgo and the two independent school districts that run with in it have always been committed to the education and development of their students. Both school districts are distinguished and rank at the top of the state. Hidalgo Early College High School is ranked as one of the top high schools in the nation. Valley View High School has been recognized in the top 5% in the nation for the past 3 years.
Both school districts have excelling arts and sports programs. Valley View High School has won national championships in Mariachi for the past 3 years. Hidalgo High School holds a 2009 State Championship in soccer and the girls basketball team is one of the top in the state.
