I am cleaning my property and I have lots of brush. Can I burn inside the city?

A. Yes you can by obtaining a burning permit with the Hidalgo Fire Marshal’s Office.

I am a resident of Hidalgo and I have a bee hive in my property. Can I call the fire department?

 A. Yes you can always keep in mind that noise attracts bees, so use caution when mowing a weedy lot. 

What fire code does the City of Hidalgo Fire Department enforce?

A. The International fire Code 2006 edition.

What number should I call if I need non emergency information about the fire department?

A. 956-843-8101

I need information about fire safety training, fire extinguisher training?

A. You can contact the Fire Marshal’s Office Mon-Fri 8:00a-5:00p at 956-843-8101.

Does the fire department refill fire extinguishers?

A. No we don’t, refer to the telephone book yellow pages under fire extinguishers.

How often do I change the battery on my smoke detector?

A. You change them once a year. I.e. On your birthday.

The fire department responded to an emergency at my property. How I obtain a copy of that report?

A. Reports are ready to be picked up within 10 working days at the fire department office Monday thru Friday 8:00a-5:00p
