Police Academy

 

The Hidalgo Police Academy is a joint operation between the Hidalgo Police Department and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council.

This police academy services cadets from Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties. 

Our academy is a full time day academy which runs approximately 6 months and encompasses over 800 hours of classroom training and 300 hours of physical training. 

Once a cadet passes the academy they will be eligible to take the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education state certification test.
