Hidalgo Police Department Support Services Division

The Support Services Division is responsible for the sections that maintain police records, operate the police communications system, vehicle maintenance records, animal control duties, traffic safety duties and custodian duties. The Support Services Division provides administrative and operational support for the Hidalgo Police Department.

The Records Section is responsible for the management of reports coming into the department from officers in the field. The records division maintains this function by utilizing a Computer Aided Records Management System. The records section is also responsible for issuing of alarm permits to residents and businesses within the City of Hidalgo.

The Communications Section being one of the fundamental sections within our department plays a vital role in the public safety mission. The Hidalgo Police Department Dispatchers are the primary connection between officers and the community. They handle 9-1-1 calls from the public, business telephone calls, radio traffic from officers in the field, and maintain records of information from and to the department in a computer aided dispatch system.

The Vehicle Maintenance Section of the department is responsible for maintaining records on all police vehicles and make sure they are in working order. The department uses several different types of vehicle within its fleet. The department utilizes Dodge Chargers, Ford Crown Victoria’s, Dodge Quad Cab Pickup Trucks, as well as A.T.V.’s.

The Animal Control Section is responsible for all aspects of Domestic Animal Enforcement including City Ordinance and State Statutes. Dogs can be impounded if they have bitten, are a stray or at large, are unlicensed/unregistered, or unvaccinated. They can also be taken into custody if the officer feels that the animal’s life is in danger if it continues to stay where it is.
