Recreation Activities
The Hidalgo Youth Center offers the following instructional classes throughout the entire year. These classes are provided free of charge to all of our members and made possible because of funding through the United Way of South Texas. We offer four individual ten week sessions over the course of the year.
Winter Session - December through February
Spring Session - March through May
Summer Session - June through August
Fall Session - September through NovemberKarate
Students will learn the fundamental skills of kicking, punching and self defense techniques. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, times and fees.
Guitar
Students will learn correct hand position, how to tune a guitar, basic chords and note reading, and how to play easy, popular songs. Guitars will be furnished Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, times and fees.
Cheerleading
Learn how to dance, stunt, jump, cheer and tumble through the basics of cheerleading Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, times and fees.
Gymnastics
Students will develop balance, coordination, flexibility, muscular endurance and strength. This is a beginning class where students will learn basic gymnastics skills. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, time and fees.
Computers
Students will learn basic functions of computers such as keyboarding, utilizing the Internet, creating E-mail address, and other programs. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, time and fees.
Arts & Crafts
Youth will develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, time and fees.
